This study investigates the relationship between English academic vocabulary knowledge and academic achievement to determine whether or not such knowledge can be a good predictor of academic achievement and examined weather Academic Word List (AWL) (Coxhead 2000) as a specialised list of infrequent words, is subject to the frequency effect.
