Grammar Strategies for Academic Reading Comprehension

IEP students need to use reading strategies. This session presents an instructional technique for helping students improve their comprehension through: (1) explicit instruction on the function of phrases and clauses, (2) extensive practice noticing these structures in authentic texts, (3) guided practice using grammatical knowledge to repair comprehension breakdowns.
