The intelligibility of teachers' spoken English is a crucial element of instructional delivery in the EFL classroom. Using student responses, we focus on the cognitive/pedagogical import of accents on comprehension, setting aside sociolinguistic criteria. This study is part of a larger project assessing native and non-native EFL teacher effectiveness.
