The Native Speaker Fallacy: International Perspectives

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This presentation explores the longstanding, but contested, belief that native-speaker teachers are intrinsically better than non-native-speaker teachers. A mixed-method study reveals perceptions and experiences on the topic from 200 students and teachers at a Vancouver college and an Abu Dhabi University. Practical ways to challenge current attitudes are provided.
