Scaffolding Reading, Transactional Metacognitive Comprehension Strategies

Students need some scaffolding; they need a plan and knowledge to develop better reading comprehension skills. Drawing on metacognitive and transactional approaches to reading, this workshop discusses a variety of instructional techniques to move students progressively toward stronger understanding and, ultimately, greater independence in the reading process.
